​Passenger panics as taxi driver drops dead behind wheel

A taxi driver lost consciousness and later died after picking up a fare from Don Mueang airport, leaving his passenger trapped inside the moving vehicle.

The passenger identified only as Thanyanan, said she was being driven to Pathum Thani and about the time they reached Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road, the driver suffered a seizure and passed out behind the wheel.

Thanyanan said she panicked before rolling down the window and calling for help from those alongside the road. An alert motorcycle taxi operator jumped into action and ran after the taxi. He was able to open the door and pull the handbrake to stop the car before calling rescue volunteers.

Rescue personnel arrived and attempted CPR on taxi driver Yon Srisa, 62, but unfortunately he could not be revived.

Police said they believe he suffered from poor health, Sanook reported.
