Bangkok Airways, AirAsia, AirAsia X ban the use of Galaxy Note 7

If your using a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone then you've probably heard that Thai Airways International and its budget subsidiary Thai Smile Aviation, Singapore Airlines, Ethihad Airways and Emirates Airline have banned the use of Note 7 device onboard.

Earlier this week passengers were asked not to use or charge the said device or put them on checked baggage as they are being recalled by Samsung, and their sales are being suspended due to faulty batteries that can cause fire.

On Sunday, three more airlines banned the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 from being used onboard and checked baggage.

Bangkok Airways Plc, AirAsia and AirAsia X said the ban took effect immediately.

Flyers were also asked to immediately inform cabin crews if their phones develop irregular conditions such as heat or smoke.

The airline operator said the actions falls in line with the safety directives of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the US Federation Aviation Administration (FAA) following reports of explosions from faulty batteries, Bangkok Post reported.
