Taxi drivers fined for rejecting passengers at MBK Center (again)

Transportation agents and the military targeted taxi drivers refusing to give passengers a ride at MBK Center, the second most notorious place to get a cab in Bangkok after Central World.

Two teams were made, one observing taxi drivers who reject people in front of the mall while a second team waited at a checkpoint to fine the offenders THB1,000.

Phuwadech Kamming, an officer from the Department of Land Transport, said he saw people rejected about 70 percent of the time they tried to hail a taxi in front of the mall between 5pm and 6pm yesterday.

Most taxi drivers denied rejecting anyone and complained the fine was too costly, according to JS100.
