Thailand is getting a handful of Chinese tourists these days. However, some of them aren't behaving nicely.
A Chinese woman who washed her feet in a public sink on Phi Don yesterday was fined by authorities.
According to Koh Phi Phi-Nopparathara National Park chief Chaithat Boonphupantanti, within half an hour of the officers posting a "no foot washing" warning sign at the public restroom, the tourist whose name was withheld, started washing her feet in the sink.
"She didn't pay attention to the sign directly in front of her," Mr. Chaithat Boonphupantanti said.
"Our officers took photos of her breaking the law before informing her that she was committing a crime, the chief added.
The woman was given a 1,000 baht fine. Her tour guide was also informed of the incident.
Chaithat explained that an area for the tourist to wash theur feet used to be in front of the toilets, but it had been moved behind the building in January because it was making the bathroom slippery and dirty.
