Siam Paragon Shames Taxi Drivers, Provides Names

Siam Paragon and the Department of Land Transport have shamed taxi drivers that refuse to pick up certain passengers. In total, 31 drivers have been shamed for refusing fairs at Siam Paragon. There are currently 23 drivers the authorities are trying to locate that have also refused fares.
The license plate numbers of all drivers that have refused fares have been listed at the mall.
Those that have been caught also have their names and the taxi agency they work for listed as well. The posting came after the urging from Teerapong Rodprasert, director-general, to all department stores to gather information on taxis that refuse to pick up passengers. The Department of Land Transport has already suspended two drivers for 7 days for not accepting fares.
Last week, 34 cabbies were arrested and fined by local police for refusing fares near Sukhumvit Road.
The biggest issue seen in the Ratchaprasong shopping district is that cabbies refuse fares and that many cabbies do not turn on their meters. Poor service is being monitored, and there is a DLT smartphone app that can be used to report poor service to the correct authorities.
The shaming has been met with praise by locals that have been rejected fares numerous times a day in the district.
