A 65-year-old street vendor identified as Pa Seesan-ngam, was
killed yesterday when a tree cut down by a worker at an under-construction
housing estate fell on him.
The incident happened at about 12:30 pm near Bangkok's Phayathai 2
Hospital. Witnesses told police that the person in question Sayon Ngamyos, was
cutting the 20-meter-tall palm tree when it fell on the estate's fence -
fatally wounding Pa who was on the other side of the fence manning his candy
stall, The Nation reported.
Rescuers rushed to the scene on
Paholyothin Road to find the fatally injured Pa Seesan-ngam under a fallen palm
tree and the debris of the concrete fence. He was pronounced dead at the
hospital. Sayon, who fled the scene, will be charged with
recklessness causing death.
